Stage 1 & 2 remapping

What a remap actually does

Your engine leaves the factory tuned for the whole world at once — worst-case fuel, extreme climates, fleet service intervals and emissions targets across dozens of markets. That safety margin is power and torque you paid for but never get to use.

A remap rewrites the engine control unit's calibration — fuelling, boost, ignition or injection timing and torque limits — to suit your actual car, your fuel and real-world driving. On most turbocharged engines a Stage 1 remap typically unlocks 20–35% more power and torque with no hardware changes at all. The booking page shows the real before-and-after figures for your exact engine before you commit to anything.

Stage 2 goes further, for cars with supporting hardware — a high-flow exhaust, upgraded intercooler or intake. The file is built around your modification list, which is exactly why we never flash off-the-shelf maps: your car is mapped as the car it is, not the car a database assumes it to be.

At a glance

  • Stage 1: more power and torque, no hardware needed
  • Stage 2: built around your exhaust, intercooler or intake
  • Custom file written in-house for your exact engine
  • Original file backed up before anything is written
  • Most remaps completed the same visit
  • See your gains online before you book

The result

What you feel on the road

Stronger everywhere

More torque from lower revs — overtakes, slip roads and hills stop being events you plan for.

Sharper response

Throttle lag trimmed away. The car reacts when you ask, not half a second later.

Smoother delivery

Flat spots and hesitation mapped out, so power arrives in one clean sweep.

Within safe limits

Every change stays inside the tolerances of your engine and drivetrain. We tune cars we would drive ourselves.

How it works

Three steps. One visit.

  1. 1

    Check your gains

Type your reg on the booking page and see the real power and torque figures for your exact engine.

  2. 2

    Book your slot

Pick a time in the live workshop diary — instant confirmation, no phone tag.

  3. 3

    Drive it out

We back up your original file, flash the new one and road-check the car — usually the same visit.

Good to know

Questions we hear every week.

How long does a remap take?

Most Stage 1 remaps are done in a single visit — typically one to two hours including the road check. Some ECUs need to be read on the bench, which we'll tell you about up front when you book.

Is remapping safe for my engine?

A properly written file stays within the mechanical tolerances of your engine, turbo and transmission. That's the point of custom files: the calibration is built for your exact engine variant, not copied from a loosely similar one.

Will it affect fuel economy?

Driven the same way, most turbodiesel and turbo petrol cars return the same or better economy after a Stage 1 remap, because the extra torque means less gear-changing and less throttle to hold speed.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?

Stage 1 works with the car exactly as it stands — no hardware changes. Stage 2 is for cars with supporting modifications like a bigger intercooler, high-flow exhaust or upgraded intake, and the file is written around those parts.

Can you put it back to standard?

Yes. Your original file is saved before we write anything, and the car can be returned to factory calibration at the workshop.
